The Impression Pad

PATENT PENDING

The Impression Pad is made from clear flexible vinyl and contains a moldable putty which we affectionately call Equi-Dough. It's extremely easy to use, place it on your horse's back, do up the saddle and go for a ride... that's it! When you remove the saddle, you will have an exact impression of how that saddle fits that horse, with that rider.

The Impression Pad can be rolled out (with a baker's rolling pin) and reused again and again, allowing you to retest your horse whenever you want.

Position your saddle, do the girth up and go for a ride.

The time required to create an impression varies with the temperature of the Equi-Dough and the weight of the rider as well as how poorly the saddle fits. Generally, a 30 minute ride is all that is required. It is important that you walk, trot and canter in both directions. Dismount and remove your saddle.

You now have an exact impression of the pressure your saddle exerts upon your horse while you are riding. Compare this with the bars on the underside of your saddle .

Ideally the Equi-Dough will be evenly displaced under the length of the two saddle panels (bars). Areas where the Equi-Dough has been completely displaced are the extreme pressure points.

The Impression Pad can be used over and over again. Simply level out the Equi-dough with a (baker's) rolling pin and test as aften as you want.

This pad is available for saddle fitting by us any time. Give us a call and set up an appointment. We will use it to assess your old saddle or try to give you the best fit for a new one.

Hand Tooled Leather Goods This is only a sample of the fine work, that Andre Bedard is doing. Full grain cowhide, cut to customers specifications and tooled in one of our traditional designs or one you choose and design yourself, all these are a work of art. On the right you can see two pictures of a guitar strap and one of a gunholster. Click on the pictures to see an enlarged image. Andre has also built a saddle with handtooled panels that you can see on our western saddle page.

No Bit Bridle

When you want to do something nice for your horse, you take the bit out of his mouth. Well, here is a bridle, that allows you to ride with full control, but without the often irritating bit. It's unique strapping functions so well, that the switch from any traditional bit can be accomplished in minimal time, giving you an effective tool for all kinds of riding. Reins are extra. You can use any existing reins, keep in mind, that they will feel longer, because of the added length of the strap running through the rings. We have easily attachable clips available.
We offer this headstall in a bridle leather, dark brown, black or tan with brass or stainless steel hardware at $129.00CAD.

This illustration shows how the straps are crossing under the horse's jaw to connect with the rein and apply both pressure on one side of the head and pull on the other side of the nose.

It works regardless of breed, age or education of both horse and rider because it follows natural inclinations of the horse to respond to both pull and pressure.

the rigging “C” or dee.
- 2 - Again, bring the latigo down to the Roll Snug™ Cinch Buckle and feed through the bottom roller. To receive the full benefit of the Roll Snug™ Cinch Buckle, the latigo must be fed around both rollers.
- 3 - Gently, but firmly, pull the latigo to "snug up" the cinch. So easy! Remember to secure the position of the latigo with the buckle tongue and tie off the latigo or use the latigo carrier.

Remember, your horse will only feel pressure when cribbing is attempted so the Miracle Collar can be worn at all times (even under a headstall or halter) and will notinterfere with normal eating, drinking, breathing or riding.
The browband strap is the strap that applies the pressure to stop your horse from cribbing. Be sure it is properly adjusted. The neck strap simply helps hold the Miracle Collar in place.

Headlamp This was a great discovery, like all of them so simple. Have you ever found yourself muttering about low light conditions, when you want to look at your horses feet or a spot under his belly or into the deep recesses of your tackbox? Well here is the handsfree solution: an adjustable headlamp! We use it all the time when trimming our horses feet, because no matter how many lights are on, you can always use a little more spotlight. Made of lightweight durable plastic on an adjustable headstrap, the reflector adjusts to point down or forward. It is powered by 4 AA-batteries.

Knot Eliminator Set up a picket line without using knots with any thickness of rope or use for tying down loads on your truck. Once you have a few of these handy gadgets you will find a million uses.
As a picketline they are best used with tree saver nylon straps with heavy D's, sold in sets of 2 (70" long), which won't injure trees. The whole system goes up quickly and easily, stays in place and eliminates the need for cumbersome knots and endless adjustments.
